Unselfie Pet Award Winners

The results are in, and Humanity Road’s “Unselfie Salute to Pets and Animals” photo contest was a great success! Our fundraiser was held in conjunction with the worldwide #GivingTuesday campaign, and enabled people to honor their beloved animals and to recognize them for the love and dedication they provide. Nominated pets vied for a “Pets #Unselfie Award” with votes cast as donations to Humanity Road, Inc.

The contest was fun! The adorable nominees were accompanied by interesting stories about each pet. PBGVs are Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen and one of their talents, besides being cute, is performing search-and-rescue work during emergencies. There was a clean sweep for the “PBGVs” as the top three! Annie won by a large margin, and Tess and Rugby took second and third place. Annie works as a service animal who helps her owner with activities of daily living (such as picking up items and retrieving the telephone) as well as emotional companionship.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us in giving back during #GivingTuesday this year. Kudos to everyone including contestants, friends, relatives, contacts AND Humanity Road volunteers who assisted with spreading the word and amplification in social media. All the nominated pets and their “humans” are acknowledged with thanks for being a part of Humanity Road’s first-ever participation in the #GivingTuesday worldwide campaign. You are ALL winners!

Thanks again for supporting Humanity Road’s mission to assist communities impacted by disaster as part of our Disaster Response Program.

  1. Rugby and Tess are honored to be included among the winners. Annie and Rugby are litter mates and Tess is a 1/2 sibling to them (same sire). They are Lacey Kennel South PBGVs (Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen).
