Nebraska Tornado Outbreak

Volunteers responded to an outbreak of tornadoes in Nebraska and Iowa tonight.  Disaster desk was active for over 3 hours.   Volunteers monitored for impacts for people, animals as well as damaged hospitals, nursing homes, open shelters and public guidance from emergency management.  Preliminary County #Tornado reports included Madison, Seward, Stanton, Thurston, Cuming Nebraska and Lyon IA #hmrd.   The town of Pilger was destroyed and citizens were  told to head to the ballpark as officials are trying to get a count of who is and isn’t accounted for.   @WaynePoliceDept announced Entrances to #Pilger closed to emergency personnel only.  #NE-recovery storm shelter was established at Wayne Community Activity Center.  #Tornado survivors may call 375-4803 for info:   Emergency management is asking no one travel on Hwy 275 or Hwy 15 in and around Pilger/Wisner/Stanton/Wayne.
