Pediatric Disaster Planning and Preparedness

A five Part Module on pediatric disaster planning and preparedness presented by EMSC


Purpose: This course is designed to provide the participant with the information necessary to make informed decisions about preparing for and responding to a natural and/or man-made disaster involving children. The course is divided into five modules:

Module 1: Why Disaster Planning for Children Is Needed
Module 2: Accessing Community Risk for Disasters Involving Children
Module 3: Preparing the Community for Disasters Involving Children
Module 4: Responding to Disasters Involving Children (Assessment/Triage)
Module 5: Responding to Disasters Involving Children (Resuscitation/Treatment)

 

In addition, this course offers a post-assessment to measure progress towards achieving the stated objectives, as well as a resource list.

Intended Audience: Emergency management officials, EMS responders, hospital personnel, and school management personnel will find this course very beneficial. However, anyone who has an interest in pediatric disaster preparedness is encouraged to take this course.

Anticipated Time Frame: The participant should complete this course in 60 minutes.
